Description: Since Jennie's group had such a fun time on this route last month, I thought we'd do it again, instead riding a clockwise loop around Union Valley Reservoir. We'll ride up Wright's Lake road for 6 miles before turning onto (mostly) quiet forest service roads, passing Ice House Reservoir before looping around Union Valley Reservoir. New, freshly paved bike paths connecting the campgrounds on the east side of the reservoir will make for a pleasant tour around the lake. Water and restrooms should be available at several points along the ride (miles 13, 28, 43 and 49). Near the end of the tour, we'll have the option of riding up to Wright's Lake and back (4 miles total). Those wishing to avoid the 1300' climb over the first six miles can meet us at the intersection of Wright's Lake Road and FS 32.

Description: Join us this Sunday, September 22nd and test yourself on a couple of high alpine passes. This ride isn't going to be easy, but it will be rewarding! It is a beautiful road ride with stunning views. Our plan is to ride Ebbetts Pass to Hermit Valley and beyond if motivated. We will start at the government offices in Markleeville, ride on highway 4 towards Ebbetts Pass, and then climb the road out and back. We will finish back at the government offices. SAG van support vehicle will post up on top of Ebbetts with a full service rest stop (aside from a restroom). The van will meet us back at the cars with the rest of the supplies. This is an advanced road bike ride. Ride Description: There are many options to this ride. It has breathtaking views! The road can be narrow and pretty steep in spots. There are a few blind corners. The traffic however, is limited. We will exercise caution on our way up and down. Option 1: Summit Ebbetts Pass and ride back down. About 25 miles and roughly 3k of elevation gain. Option 2: Summit Ebbetts Pass and continue to Hermit Valley, then turnaround. About 45 miles and roughly 5k of elevation gain. Option 3: Summit Ebbetts Pass, drop down to Hermit Valley, and summit Pacific Grade approximately 50 miles and roughly 6k of elevation gain. You are welcome to just ride as far as you want and turn around at any point. Ride Profile: This is for Ebbetts Pass and Hermit Valley and some of Pacific Grade. https://www.strava.com/routes/3271174862690984102 Meet Time: 8:00am Start Time: 8:30am Ride time: 4-6 hours Pace will be very casual. Ebikes are allowed. SAG will be posted up at the top of Ebbetts Pass with a rest stop. It will have a full rest stop with snacks and drinks. We will have things like PB&Js, cups of noodles, fruit snacks, cokes, water, etc. If you want to have something specific just put it in the van in the morning before the ride. There will be no bathroom however. Directions: https://maps.app.goo.gl/uYvo5TgPwDewWrPg6 Weather: It looks like it will be nice weather Sunday. We will keep an eye on it and change accordingly. Ride cost is $10 and will be used to cover the cost of supplies and support needs. Open to all ages. Need a bike?
